Lisa Ogu

With over 20 years of unwavering commitment to the non-profit and social work sectors, I am a passionate advocate dedicated to addressing community issues, immigrant rights, and social injustices. My extensive experience spans various roles, reflecting a profound dedication to making a positive impact.

My journey began with 13 years served as a Victim Advocate and Children's Program Caseworker at my hometown Domestic Violence Shelter, providing crucial support and resources to those in need. This experience honed my skills in navigating complex situations with empathy and resilience.

Throughout my career, I have actively engaged in a spectrum of initiatives, including Alternative Education, Afterschool Programming, Father Engagement Services, Community-Based Casework, Family Preservation Services, Foster Care, Stand-Alone Visitation Facilitation Services, and Youth-Based Transition from Restrictive Placement (DOC) Programs. Each role has enriched my understanding of diverse challenges within our communities, empowering me to contribute meaningfully to social welfare.

Beyond professional realms, I extend my impact globally through volunteerism. As a dedicated supporter of the YEWA Descendants Union US & Canada, I actively participate in initiatives that connect and uplift communities internationally. Locally, my contributions include volunteering with Second Harvest, Indy's Global Village, the Haitian Association of Indiana, and Liassa INC.

My dedication to community work, particularly in the realms of immigrant issues and social injustice, is deeply rooted in my belief in fostering positive change. I am excited about the prospect of leveraging my skills and experiences to continue making meaningful contributions to the well-being of individuals and communities
