André Guima
Marketing and Communications Officer
André is a Brazilian-American marketing and communications specialist and award-winning filmmaker. He grew up with a Colombian mother and Brazilian father and was raised in São Paulo, BR, Indianapolis, USA, and Guadalajara, MX.
From a young age, he became adept at connecting with and listening to others from different cultural backgrounds. And in his late-teens, he fell in love with storytelling. He graduated from Ball State with degrees in Media, Creative Writing, and Theatre.
Professionally, André has worked for multimedia production companies producing video, photo, and social media content for clients across the United States and abroad.
As a filmmaker, his directorial debut film, Two Soles (2022), won multiple awards in film festivals across the United States. Since then, his focus has shifted to community-centered documentary work. His current project, "Mirrors of Common Destiny," tells the story of two refugee artists based in the Midwest but originally from Myanmar and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The project was one of five finalists in Hoodox's Pitchdox competition.
André's belief in the transformative power of representation and storytelling is at the heart of his work. He is constantly seeking new ways to use storytelling to inspire positive change.
