
Rita Lwin
Program Officer
Rita Lwin, Patchwork’s Program Officer, provides training and case management services to our private sponsor groups and their refugee families that arrived through the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program’s Welcome Corps program.
Lwin was born in Myanmar (Burma) and belongs to the Kayan ethnic group from the Karenni State. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Science in Mathematics from Myanmar and a Master's degree in Tourism Management from Assumption University in Bangkok, Thailand.
While in Bangkok, she worked with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) for six years, serving the Burmese refugee and immigrant population as a case manager.
Lwin arrived in the United States in 2008 as a student and was granted asylum. Since 2009, she has served as the Burmese Parishioner Coordinator at St. Pius X Catholic Church, supporting the Burmese community. Additionally, she has held roles as an Orientation and Home Visit Specialist, Match Grant Coordinator, and Preferred Community Case Manager at Catholic Charities Refugee and Immigration Services in Indianapolis, IN.
Her passion lies in social work, with a strong dedication to helping refugee and immigrant populations—a commitment that began in Thailand and continues in Indianapolis.
