Community Sponsorship

We help each other. Together, we make a difference.

What is Community Sponsorship?

A group of community sponsors from Muncie, IN, and an Afghan refugee family they sponsored through the Welcome Corps program, a government program Patchwork Indy worked alongside with in the past.

Community Sponsorship are small groups of neighbors, family, friends, and colleagues working together to temporarily provide the basic needs of a person or family in difficult moments of transition.

Traditionally, Community Sponsorship has been used as a model around the globe to help the resettlement of refugees from war-torn countries adjust to new life in a foreign land during their first months upon arrival.

At this very moment, thousands of Afghan allies who served alongside our troops are fleeing Taliban persecution and are in need of critical resettlement support.

A Sponsor Group provides critical resources and services (such as housing, transportation, and signing children up for school) to an individual or family of refugees or Afghan allies in their first 90 days resettling in the United States.

Sponsor Groups will receive their beneficiary family at the airport at the start of their 90-day support period.
