Karla Munive

Director of Latino Affairs

Karla Munive Lima is Patchwork Indy's Director of Mexican & Latin American Affairs. She is a Mexican lawyer, holds a master’s degree in international law, and earned her cum laude Doctorate in Law. She has a decade of experience in the documentation, protection, and empowerment of the Mexican migrant community in the United States. She has designed and led gender-focused strategies and coordinated actions to defend the human rights of Mexican nationals, handling high-impact cases involving death penalty, domestic violence, human trafficking, labor rights, immigration matters, unaccompanied minors, transfer of remains of Mexican nationals, among others.


From September 2015 to May 2025, she served as a member of the Mexican Foreign Service, representing Mexico at the Consulates in Houston and Indianapolis. She held various positions, including Head of Community and Cultural Affairs, Head of Documentation, Head of the Civil Registry, Public Notary and Visa Section, Head of Protection and Legal Affairs, and Head of the Comprehensive Women’s Assistance Initiative, where she strengthened collaboration with authorities, organizations, and community networks.


She currently serves on the Mayor of Indianapolis Latino Advisory Council and on the board of “Tu Refugio Seguro”, organization that provides assistance to women who are survivors of domestic violence. In August 2025, she joined Patchwork Indy as Director of Mexico and Latin America Affairs, where she continues to promote the well-being of Latin American communities and provides specialized consulting on Mexican legal frameworks.
