Marcus Steiner is a seasoned human rights advocate, genocide prevention practitioner, and Chief Financial Officer at Patchwork Indy. He holds a Master of Arts in History from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Indiana State University.
As the owner of Dragonfly Consulting Group, Marcus provides strategic guidance to philanthropic organizations and nonprofit leaders, advising on grantmaking, program development, and human rights advocacy. His work has helped shape significant initiatives in genocide prevention, youth mental health, and community development, maximizing the impact of funding and driving positive change within the nonprofit sector.
At the Crane Center for Mass Atrocity Prevention, Marcus led a global network of 175,000 advocates across 35 countries, collaborating with U.S. lawmakers, the U.S. State Department, and international NGOs to address critical issues such as the Rohingya Genocide, ethnic violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the genocide against the Uyghur population in China. His work focused on the intersection of technology, international law, and the prevention of mass atrocities.
At CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center, Marcus oversaw the management, development, building, and funding of exhibitions that communicated the history and impact of the Holocaust. His leadership ensured the museum's educational mission was effectively conveyed through compelling exhibits. As an independent consultant, Marcus has also contributed to the creation of impactful educational programs and strategic initiatives.
Marcus coauthored the RAND Corporation’s pioneering Holocaust and Mass Atrocity Prevention Open Educational Resource and has crafted innovative courses in educational technology as an Adjunct Instructor at SUNY Empire State University. He has presented his findings at Columbia University, SUNY Binghamton University, and Notre Dame University, engaging with delegates from international governments and NGOs to discuss human rights and conflict prevention.
