Modupe Adewunmi

Director of Coalition Building

Modupe ("Mo") Adewunmi is the Director of Coalition Building at Patchwork Indy, where she leads efforts to expand Indiana’s capacity to welcome newcomers through meaningful relationships and cross-sector collaborations.

Originally from Nigeria and born in The Gambia, Mo has lived in seven countries to date—Austria, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, The Gambia, and the United States—and has worked on projects in Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Kenya.

During graduate school, Mo was part of a team of graduate student consultants on a capstone project focused on mitigating gender-based violence (GBV) in displacement settings. She conducted field research in Kenya, including interviews with humanitarian practitioners in Nairobi and focus group discussions with displaced communities in Kakuma. The research culminated in a comprehensive program roadmap and toolkit titled Preventing Gender-based Violence, Building Livelihoods: Guidance and Tools for Improved Programming, which supports humanitarian practitioners in designing safer economic livelihood programs for refugees.

Her experience meeting people from all walks of life, combined with her work with refugees in Kenya, has inspired her to create safe spaces where everyone feels valued and supported. With a global perspective shaped by her experiences across multiple countries, Mo is committed to building bridges between cultures and empowering communities.

Mo has previously served as the Chief Operating Officer of the International Marketplace Coalition and as the Grants Research Coordinator for the IU Center for Global Health. Her educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in economics from Hunter College, New York and a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Economic Development from the Columbia University School of International & Public Affairs. In addition, she studied French and German at Covenant University in Nigeria prior to moving to the United States in 2006.
